Sports Taping for Injury or Performance
Taping or strapping injured joints and muscles to help protect them is nothing new, and your trainer at the club probably knows how to limit the types of movement that will exacerbate an existing injury.
Using a more flexible (and, invariably, more brightly-coloured!) 'kinesio' style tape allows other applications.
While kinesio-style taping is neither a cure-all nor a magic bullet, it can be very useful in cases when learned inappropriate movement patterns are impacting performance. Iit provides increased feedback (proprioception) from the area in question, and also subtly guides the muscles or joints through the desired movements.
